A Wonderful Day

So today was one of those days that I absolutely love. I am on the downhill side of my cold, still coughing and a little stuffy, but feeling so much better. I woke up, got the hubby out the door, took a shower and got down to business. I'm always amazed at how fast the house can take a downward spiral when you're sick and not able to take care of the normal chores. My plan was to "restore order" but in end, I did some serious spring cleaning. I love these days. I love working and working and working and when I'm done being able to sit back and admire the progress. I dusted EVERYTHING in our bedroom, cleaned the bathroom top to bottom, even the baseboards. Honestly, I don't remember my mother having to dust this must when i was little. Why does this house have so much dust and where does it come from? (I read once that dust was like 90% dead skin...not sure about that one...but if so, gross.) I had sheets on the clothesline, the radio blaring, and the vacuum ...

Reality TV: Is This For Real???

I woke up sick this morning...felt it coming on a little yesterday, but during the night I woke up and knew that it was definitely here to stay. It's nothing super major...just a head cold, but nonetheless, I've been on the couch all day. And since I've been on the couch today, I've been watching TV out the wazoo and honestly can't believe what all I've seen. I've watched my favorites, Little House on the Prairie, People's Court, Judge Judy...some super cheesy movies, one about a single mother that chases tornadoes and in the end introduces her daughter to her daughter's father...the local weather man (I'm sad to say I didn't see that one coming...I blame it on the cold). I've also watched a lot of reality tv and am flabbergasted. Here are just some of the shows I've watched today...mostly just pieces of an episode 'cause that's about all I could handle... First there was a show called Tool Academy. This one was seriously l...

More Random Things About Me

Most of my friends are on Facebook and are probably familiar with the "25 Random Things..." thing being circulated. I'm posting a few more that I thought of... 26. I love volunteering for different things and helping people. I know that sounds so hokey, but at the end of the day, I feel good and hope that they know someone cares about them. 27. I still have some of my stuffed animals from when I was little. Some of them were even my brother's and I doubt I'll ever get rid of them. One, a long brown dog, has a radio in its belly. I named it Rufio before learning that David had named it Rufus. 28. I was Miss Teen Firecracker for the summer of 1999. Don't be impressed, there were only two of us in our age group...but...I won. And it felt freakin' great. 29. I've ALWAYS dreamed of riding in the Peanut Parade (as a beauty queen). One year my mother tried to call one of our cousins in Dothan and ask if I could possibly ride in one of their cars (he sold ca...

Another Monday

So...it's Monday morning (foggy, too) and I'm wide awake (thanks to an early morning job interview which I'm already back home from). It's funny that when I was working Mondays were totally different from what they are now. I used to dread Sunday afternoons, sometimes I'd even come down with the worst stomach or headaches imaginable...all because I knew Monday was right around the corner. Now...I just make mental notes of what I can cook for the coming week's suppers, what projects I want to work on, and what big chores need to be finished. Totally different. I'm also helping plan a surprise birthday party for my Granny. Her birthday is in early February, but this Saturday we'll be celebrating. It's pretty funny how different it is when planning a party for someone in their eighties. My cousin is putting together a slide show of pictures and we've had a hard time finding pictures of Granny when she was young. She doesn't have any wedding...

Down and Out

So...lately I've been pretty bummed. I do this every so often so it's not too big of a thing. I have a pity party, have a little meltdown, wash my face and figure out how to make the next day better. Maybe it's one of those "blessings" of being a girl...regardless, it is what it is. I'm still unemployed. Hopefully that will change soon. I'm supposed to meet with someone this week about a job possibility...I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but, at the same time, trying to hope for something so that I have some motivation. My mom got a job (today actually) working two days a week in a doctor's office helping out with simple medical procedures. She was very excited as she's been at the house for a lot longer than I have (real estate stinks) and has been experiencing the "What's My Purpose" blues for a while now. I'm excited for her. She was going today to buy a set of scrubs and was excited. I'll admit...I'm a b...

The Kong

So...if you have a Kong, you already know it's a WONDERFUL dog toy that gives you free time by making your canine buddy "work" for his/her treat. There are special Kong treats that you can buy but they're kinda pricey so we just put any treat in there that won't fall out on its own. We used to put plain dog biscuits in there and the only way Sebastian would ever get any of the treat was if the biscuits broke against each other while he was bouncing it all around the house. Eventually, he learned that if he pushed it off the end of the bed, every once in a while the biscuits would break and he'd get some treat. It got to where he'd push it off, look over the side of the bed, jump down, bring it back up to the bed, and start all over. Well, lately he's found another method to win the prize... He puts the Kong on his brown bed (that's his favorite color, we think...he only gets on brown blankets and such...kinda weird, but whatever) grabs a mouthf...

BOLT!

Image
So...tonight we went to see Bolt...in 3D. Pretty fun. Tommy can get these movie tickets through the hospital and you only have to pay the matinee fee but you can see the movie whenever...and we had four that expire at the end of the year...so tonight we saw Bolt. Cutest movie I've seen in a while. If you love (or even like) dogs, you NEED to go. So freakin' cute. And yes...I'll admit it...I cried. Can't tell you when, but yeah, had to wipe some tears away. I was speeding the whole way home just so I could get home to my sweet puppy. Dogs are awesome. Dogs are wonderful. I never understood this when I was younger but it's really true what people say about dogs. They're always so eager to please you and make you happy. Sometimes I honestly think Sebastian does things just to make us laugh. He cuddles with Ryan on the couch ALL the time. Tonight while I was waiting for Ryan to come home from work, I was on the couch reading. Sebastian jumps up on my feet a...
