Project 25

SO...it's been a kind of a rough day. I'm sick of this weather. It's December...it's supposed to be at least somewhat cold...or at least cool. Ugh...

So today I ran some errands with my mom...broke the cardinal rule and went to Walmart at Christmas...during lunch...I thought at one point that I was going to have a meltdown.

Tonight mom and I went to the super Walmart to participate in the Sheriff's office's program called Project 25. I'd never heard of it until last week. It was pretty neat. Basically, you're assigned a child and you go "shopping" for the child. We were allowed to spend $75 for each child. I was pretty impressed...I was figuring it would be around $35 or so. It was pretty chaotic, too. Tons of people were all in the toy department...pretty crazy.

Once we finished shopping, we just gave the buggy to "the lady in the blue shirt" and she took over. (Now, I know that all Walmart employees wear blue shirts, but hers was bright royal blue...it was different, I swear.) I really enjoyed picking out the toys and all, but kinda wished I could have been more of a part of it. They're supposed to be having the parents come by on Thursday so I'm probably going to try to go up there and help out with that, too.

I'm still trying to find a good place to volunteer...I'd love to find a place where I could help out on somewhat of a schedule but haven't found it just yet. Soul searching is rough work.

On another note, Christmas is definitely here. I can't wait for Christmas to get here, I'm enjoying making gifts for everyone, loving the Christmas lights on neightbor's houses, and so on. Last year was awful for me...I was hating my job, super unhappy, and having trouble determining my actual purpose. Now, I'm not saying that I've totally figured all these things out, but I'm definitely happier. I don't have a job but I'm happy with my life, and for right now that's enough.

I know what you mean, I only heard about Project 25 last night. We could have went shopping too or helped out with other stuff. Are they keeping it a secret?? Let me know if you find out any details...

I'm Tired

Can I please share my heart? (Be prepared for a lot of whining.) I’m tired. I’m emotionally tired, spiritually tired, financially tired, and physically tired. I’m just tired. Ryan and I are facing the upcoming furlough. We’ll have a significant pay cut to deal with for approximately six months. Thankfully, we have been blessed enough to be able to save up for such an event (that and I know how to choke a dollar) so we’ll be okay, but we have numerous coworkers and friends, good friends , that are really going to be feeling this 20% reduction. I’m worried for them. I’m waking up in the middle of the night praying that they’ll be okay.   This is the first blog post I’ve written in SO LONG so it feels a bit foreign and weird. I have tossed around various ideas for the past couple of months about blogging again, but I couldn’t get motivated or decisive or something .   So, I just turned thirty-five. I've made some serious changes in the past year and for whatever reason, I want to share what I have and am learning. I constantly feel like I'm failing, but I know it can't be that bad (RIGHT?).
